Colleges

Let's talk about colleges. Here are a few questions I was asked to answer about where I wanted to go for school and in what Major. Of course I already know my major I just needed to find out where I would study it at. My major is Psychology because my goal is to become a Psychiatrist like I stated in a previous post. Well here we go...

I. 1.What search engines did you use? 2.What Institution do you match up with? 3What are your options?

A few search engines that I used were...

II. College board, which can be found at http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/index.jsp The institution that I "stacked up" with best and found favorable was Kutztown U. of Pa.(http://www.kutztown.edu/) This is actually one of my top choice schools after I finish my two-year courses at CCP.

III. College net which can be found at http://cnsearch.collegenet.com/cgi-bin/CN/index the top institution I found was Cheyney University(http://www.cheyney.edu/), even though it's not my top choice it's not a college I would mind attending.

IV. College Search Portal which can be found at http://www.anycollege.com/feature.cfm My number one institution was West Chester university(http://www.wcupa.edu/). This was actually one of the school I applied and got accepted to, this is a great school and would be a good choice for my major.

V. My plan for college is to attend Two-Year courses at Community College of Philadelphia then transfer to a better institution for my major, given that my financial status is in order. I will start applying for financial aid, Scholarships, etc. sometime before or during my second year at CCP. The reason I want to do this is so that I have the chance to bring up my GPA so that I have a better chance of getting a scholarship or grant.

Thank You

Dear ______,

I would like to express my appreciation for giving me the opportunity to prove to you guys that I am the right person for the job. I promise that if I am giving the chance I will not let you down. Even if I do not receive the job I would still say I am greatly appreciative of the opportunity of meeting you and getting to know a little more about your business. I would also like to thank you for giving me a fair chance even though there were tons of others waiting in line. I feel as though the interview was fun and informational for the both of us.

I trust and know that you are highly qualified to make these types of decisions, so I know that if I don't get the job it's because there was someone more qualified. So just in case I do not have the chance to get to tell you in person I hope you have a wonderful and successful career and life. You are a great person and I enjoyed having the pleasure of meeting you, hopefully that was not our only encounter. So once again thank you for my interview and I hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,
Karon Davis-Coleman

Goals

A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Attainable(Action), Realistic, &Time-Oriented one. Specific means that the goal is straight to the point and not too broad, I want to get a degree. Measurable means it's able to put a time, price, etc., on the goal. Attainable usually means that your goal is capable of being reached or that you can achieve your goal. Realistic means that your goal is not just some once in a million dream like "I want to be have superpowers" or anything like that, but something that happens in everyday life graduating from college. Last but not least the Time-Oriented part means that you have a time period in which you plan to achieve your goal. An example of a SMART goal would be "I want to graduate from college with a degree in...within the next four years" it's specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and even time-oriented.

My summer goal is to work hard and prepare for school in the fall. That's two but they are my two main goals for this summer. They're specific, they can be measured, they're attainable if I stay focused, they're definitely realistic, and the time I want to do all this is before I start school which makes them time-oriented.

My longterm goal is to attend college at Temple University to graduate with a degree in Psychology so that I can get a job as a licensed Psychiatrist. I plan on doing all of this within the next 5 to 7 years, however while I'm studying and going to school to do this I plan to have a job to help pay for school and a place to stay.
